Résumé : As Japan belongs to the high drug consumption countries, it is an important task for the government how to control medical expenditures. For the past decades, continuous reduction of drug prices has been employed for this purpose. However, as the pharmaceutical industry is one of the most important industries for the future Japanese economy, the cost control policy must be balanced with the policies of others sectors, such as industry and science.
