Résumé : The Japanese government has been engaging in health promotion programs from 1978. In 2000, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare presented a next eleven-year plan from 2000 to 2010, the National Health Promotion Movement in the 21st Century, so called Healthy Japan 21. Actually, various health promotion activities are organized under the different schemes and laws. In this article, the author will explain the content of these activities and the future direction.
